Event: Global Uprisings/ Resistance: Turkey, Egypt and Brazil

The summer of 2013 was witness to a series of social uprisings and resistance movements across the globe.

This meeting looks back on the events that took place in Turkey, Egypt and Brazil – their underlying causes, and what their legacy might be, both domestically and internationally.¬†Join us for a screening of “Ecumenopolis: City Without Limits” which will be followed by a Panel on “Global Uprisings/Resistance”.

18:30 Ecumenopolis is a documentary which details the uncontrolled, capital-driven urban transformation of Istanbul as the city heads towards a population of 15 million people – twice the size of London.

William Da Rosa, volunteer researcher for the Brazilian Truth Commission and a PhD candidate at the University of Sussex

The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
